GTR Africa – Trade and export finance conference 2025

At the GTR Africa – Trade and export finance conference 2025 in Cape Town, the spotlight was on South Africa’s infrastructure investment strategy as a key driver of economic growth and job creation. In a compelling keynote address, the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure highlighted the government’s 1 trillion Rand commitment to infrastructure, with a strong push for public-private partnerships (PPPs) to attract an additional 100 billion Rand in private investment.

With a focus on energy, including the Green Hydrogen programme, and the release of state-owned properties to boost development, regulatory reforms are paving the way for increased investor confidence. A zero-tolerance policy on corruption and new procurement measures aim to ensure efficiency and transparency in project execution.

The conference reinforced South Africa’s position as a high-potential investment destination as global stakeholders engaged in critical discussions.

Isle of Man Indaba, George

The The Isle of Man Indaba event in George, South Africa, highlighted the Isle of Man’s strong regulatory framework, tax benefits, and thriving economy, reinforcing its position as an attractive hub for international business. Discussions covered global market risks, the importance of dynamic risk management, and how diversification plays a key role in investment strategies. Sustainability in wealth planning and the need to involve the next generation in family governance were also key takeaways.

Future risks, including potential black swan events, were a major focus, emphasising the importance of preparing for economic shifts and uncertainty.
